Terms of Service
Effective date: October 12, 2026 · Last updated: October 20, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of deporteedefense.org (the “Site”), operated by Deportee Defense Inc. (“Deportee Defense,” “we,” “us”), a nonprofit corporation recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 42-4881048). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. We are not a law firm
Deportee Defense raises and directs charitable funds to support legal defense for people facing deportation. We are not a law firm, we do not provide legal advice or representation, and nothing on the Site creates an attorney-client relationship. Information on the Site is general and educational only. Immigration law is complex and changes often. If you need legal help, please consult a licensed immigration attorney or an accredited legal services organization.
2. Stories and case information
The Site shares stories about people and families affected by deportation. These stories are shared to illustrate our mission. Outcomes described are specific to each case, and nothing on the Site promises or predicts the outcome of any legal matter. Where possible, we take care to protect the privacy of the people we feature.
3. Donations
- Tax status. Deportee Defense Inc. is recognized as exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. No goods or services are provided in exchange for gifts unless a receipt says otherwise. Please keep your receipt for your records and consult your tax advisor about your own situation.
- Use of funds. Gifts support our charitable mission of funding legal defense and related services. Our Board of Directors directs how funds are used. When a campaign or story is fully funded, or when circumstances change, we may apply gifts to similar charitable purposes within our mission.
- Refunds. Gifts are generally non-refundable. If you believe you made a gift in error, email info@deporteedefense.org promptly and we will review your request.
- Your authority to give. By donating, you confirm that you are authorized to use the payment method you provide.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Site. This includes attempting to gain unauthorized access, interfering with its operation, introducing malicious code, collecting information about other users, using the Site for unlawful purposes, or submitting false or misleading information. We may restrict access to the Site if we reasonably believe these Terms are being violated.

6. Third-party links and content
The Site may link to third-party websites and sources. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices. A link does not mean we endorse the site or its owner.
7. Disclaimers
The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure or free of errors, or that its information is complete or current.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Deportee Defense and its directors, officers, volunteers and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content.
